SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $791,000 FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION INITIATIVE

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL), announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice will be releasing $791,582 for the Youth Violence Prevention Initiative at the University of South Alabama.

This grant will help identify the causes of youth violence, develop research-based interventions that reduce the rate of youth violence, and test the effectiveness of the violence prevention methods. This is an ultidisciplinary initiative that will be supporting research from a number of different fields of study.

Sen. Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce $791,582 for the University of South Alabama Youth Violence Prevention Initiative. It is important that we continue to research ways to prevent and protect children from violence.”
