U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the Department of Justice will award $400,000 to the Alabama Department of Public Health to support the Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
“Unfortunately, many illicit drug users have turned to prescription drug abuse as a diversion,” said Shelby. “ As this problem persists, prescription drug monitoring programs have become essential to combating the abuse of pharmaceutical controlled substances. The Alabama Department of Public Health will use this funding to educate Alabamians about the dangers of misusing prescription drugs.”
