U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration will award $342,700 to the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The airport will use these funds to purchase a new airport rescue and firefighting vehicle.
“It is critical that our airports have the necessary safety precautions in place, should an accident occur,” said Shelby. “Increases in travel to and through Northwest Alabama require the airport authority to have the most up-to-date and safe equipment available to ensure the safety of passengers, pilots and airport employees.”
