Alabama Awarded $1,095,118 for Seat Belt Projects
U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) today announced a $1,095,118 grant for the State of Alabama to develop projects to increase seat belt use.
The grant was awarded by the Department of Transportation for fiscal year 2001 to find creative new approaches to increase seat belt use across the nation. The grants were awarded competitively and all 50 states were eligible to apply.
"I am proud to announce this grant for Alabama," said Shelby. "We all know the importance of wearing seat belts. We can save a lot of lives and prevent serious injuries by buckling up."
