Senator Shelby made the following remarks about the project, “I am pleased that the conference committee recognized the value of the SED building for our Armed Forces. This two-phase project will provide support facilities for the Army’s expanding reliance on software automation and rapid data transfer across the full spectrum of materiel systems. As the number and complexity of unique software systems developed and supported at Redstone Arsenal continues to increase, so does the requirement for adequate facilities to support them.”
“I believe this project will allow our warfighters to be more versatile by enabling them to trouble shoot and operate any comparable weapon system with a minimum of training. SED is the development, analysis, training, and proving ground for software in accomplishing this mission and is crucial in meeting the requirements associated with a ready force,” Senator Shelby concluded.
