U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded $114,058 to for research on tilefish and deepwater grouper longline catches.
“The Gulf Coast fishing industry is integral to Alabama’s economy,” said Shelby. “This important funding will provide researchers with a better understanding of the marine habitats of tilefish and grouper.”
