U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) will award $200,000 to the City of Childersburg for construction of a water storage tank.
“It is critical that the City of Childersburg have the infrastructure needed to provide protection in the event of a fire,” said Shelby. “Unfortunately, the current water system located at the Childersburg Industrial Park cannot adequately provide fire protection to its industries. This important grant will be used by the city to build a 200,000 –gallon water storage tank, which will not only provide full fire protection to the park, but will help support additional developments in the area.”
In addition to ARC funds, the total expected project cost of $392,324 includes $192,324 from local sources.
