U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) will award $156,600 to the Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board for water system improvements.
“Due to a lack of water service, major industries located in Haleyville do not have access to adequate fire protection,” said Shelby. “This important funding will allow the Haleyville Water Works and Sewer to extend the water line and increase water pressure to ensure adequate fire protection for the city’s major industries. We must ensure that our communities are sufficiently equipped to respond to fire emergencies.”
In addition to ARC funds, the total expected project cost of $649,600 includes $156,600 from local sources and $336,400 from other federal sources.
