SHELBY ANNOUNCES $100,000 FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM IN HOOVER

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice will soon be releasing $100,000 for The Hoover Coalition Promoting a Safe and Healthy Community. As chairman of the Transportation, Treasury, and General Government Appropriations subcommittee, the Senator was instrumental in including $70 million for the Drug Free Communities Grant Program so that important programs such as the one in Hoover may compete for funding.

These funds will assist in providing substance abuse prevention and education services for at-risk youth and young adults in Hoover. The coalition will work to create a drug-free community and promote effective parenting.

Sen. Shelby said “I am pleased to make this announcement for The Hoover Coalition Promoting a Safe and Healthy Community. These funds will help the coalition reduce substance abuse among youth and adults in the community.”
