SHELBY ANNOUNCES $4 MILLION FOR BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury, and General Government, announced today that the Birmingham Airport Authority will receive $4 million from the Department of Transportation for improvements at the Birmingham International Airport. The funding will be used to acquire land for noise compatibility improvements.

Sen. Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce these funds for the Birmingham Airport Authority. It is an important priority for me that Alabama's airports are given the needed resources so they may remain safe and convenient for the passengers and pilots who use them.”

This funding, which was secured in the federal appropriations process, will be administered through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
