SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $220,000 FOR THE YWCA OF CENTRAL ALABAMA

WASHINGTON, D. C. — U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that U.S. Department of Justice will be releasing $220,359 to the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Central Alabama in Birmingham. The YWCA will use these funds for the Legal Assistance for Victims Grant (LAV) Program. The LAV Program supports projects that provide legal service to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce over $220,000 for the YWCA of Central Alabama. This nonprofit organization has been a longtime advocate for women and families of all races and religions and has worked hard to identify and respond to their needs. These funds will help the YWCA continue to expand their outreach by supporting projects that will provide legal services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.”
