SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $137,000 FOR ROGERSVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department will receive $137,700 in federal funds to assist with the purchase of firefighting vehicles. These funds are available for a variety of vehicles including trucks, ambulances, aerials and fireboats.

These funds have been awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness, as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $750 million in direct federal assistance to firefighters nationwide this year.

“I remain committed to working in Congress to ensure that our nation’s first responders have the necessary resources to rapidly respond in the event of an emergency. These funds will allow the men and women of the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department to be better prepared to respond to the needs of their community,” Sen. Shelby said.
