Shelby Announces $666,648 for University of Alabama in Huntsville

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala), ranking member of the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee (CJS), today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration has awarded $666,648 to the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) for research on mitigating agricultural droughts through the capture and storage of precipitation for irrigation purposes.

“Alabama’s farmers and ranchers are well aware of just how devastating a drought can be,” said Shelby.  “While it is impossible to control Mother Nature, I am confident that the findings from the research conducted at UAH may help our agriculture industry mitigate the effects of future droughts.”
