U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) announced today that the City of Aliceville will receive $100,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). The funding will be used for water system improvements to a city-owned industrial property in Pickens County.
“I am pleased to announce this funding,” said Senator Shelby. “It is critical that local communities have the infrastructure necessary to support area businesses. This funding will make significant improvements to the area’s water supply, which will better serve the Aliceville and Pickens County area industry.”
The project will upgrade a high-capacity well and a water storage tank by replacing pumps, controls, and treatment facilities at the wellhead, as well as cleaning and repainting the storage tank. The project will also construct a backup waterline connection to the Pickens County Water Authority’s system. This project is expected to create 14 new positions.
