Tuscaloosa Native Completes Internship in Senator Shelby’s Office

David Wilson, a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, completed an internship in the Washington office of U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.).

While in Washington, David completed legislative research, conducted tours of the U.S. Capitol building, and attended hearings on various important issues.

“The Congressional Internship Program is an important complement to these students' academic studies.  Their experiences help bring to life what they have studied in the classroom,” Shelby said.  “The internship fosters a fuller and richer understanding of our government's legislative process, while providing a first-hand view of public service. I know that the students that hold these internships will go on to achieve great things.”

David is a rising junior at the University of Alabama and plans to graduate in 2013 with a degree in Marketing and Finance.  He currently serves as the Student Government Association Vice President for Student Affairs and is a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, University Fellows, Cardinal Key Honor Society, and several other groups.  Additionally, David is the Chairman of the Board and President of the Think Company, Inc., a non-profit organization that promotes creativity, communication, and community.

Senator Shelby’s Congressional Internship Program is open to college students who exhibit an interest in government and public service.
