SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $163,000 FOR COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT DIRECT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

WASHINGTON, D. C.--- U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) announced today that $163,240 will be released from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Programs (CEDAP) throughout Alabama.

These funds will be used to provide smaller law enforcement and emergency responder agencies with equipment items that will enhance and support regional response, mutual aid, and interoperability of responder equipment. CEDAP recognizes the importance of new equipment education and training to ensure the proper operation and deployment of the equipment.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce over $163,000 for Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Programs across Alabama. It is important that we work to ensure law enforcement and first responders have the necessary knowledge and equipment to keep Alabama’s communities safe.”

The funds will be allocated as follows:

Alexander City Fire Department will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Atmore Police Department will receive $14,620 for a Search Camera Victim Locator System.

Brick Hatton Volunteer Fire Department will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Calera Fire Department will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Calera Police Department will receive $14,620 for a Search Camera Victim Locator System.

Cherokee Rescue Squad will receive $14,620 for a Search Camera Victim Locator System.

Cherokee Volunteer Fire Fighters will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Choctaw County Emergency Management Agency will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Cottonwood Police Department will receive $4,140 for a CEDAP Personal Protection Equipment Kit.

Daphne Police Department will receive $3,700 for a Night Vision Kit.

Georgiana Police Department will receive $4,140 for a CEDAP Personal Protection Equipment Kit.

Guntersville Fire & Rescue will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Jasper Police Department will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Margaret Fire and Rescue will receive $12,500 for Thermal Imaging Equipment.

Phenix City Police Department will receive $3,700 for a Night Vision Kit.

Russell County Sheriff’s Department will receive $3,700 for a Night Vision Kit.
