SHELBY APPLAUDS DISCOVERY’S RETURN TO FLIGHT

WASHINGTON, D. C. -- U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), Chairman of the Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee with jurisdiction over the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), today applauded the Space Shuttle Discovery’s successful return to flight. Senator Shelby made the following statement upon the shuttle’s lift-off:

“I am extremely pleased that NASA has returned to flight with the successful launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery. After more than two years of being grounded, NASA continues to focus on the promise of space exploration and today’s successful launch is a testament to that vision. I want to applaud the hard work of all those at NASA who have made this possible, and specifically the men and women at Marshall Space Flight Center for playing an integral role in helping NASA return to flight.”
