Shelby Statement on Assistant AG Nomination
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today released the following statement regarding President Trump’s nomination of Birmingham-native Stephen Boyd to be an assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ):
“Stephen is well-respected across the state of Alabama and is known for his ability to reach across the aisle and get things done. President Trump has made a great pick in nominating someone with Stephen’s level of integrity and character for this esteemed position.”
Boyd is currently the chief of staff at the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy. Prior to his time at DOJ, he served as chief of staff for Representative Martha Roby (R-Ala.) and was previously the communications director for then-Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) and the Senate Judiciary Committee. Boyd is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law.
