U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, today announced funds for the Dynamic Rollover Laboratory at Auburn University. The funds, totaling $1,486,961 will be released Monday by the Federal Highway Administration.
Senator Shelby secured this funding for Auburn University in the Fiscal Year 2002 Transportation Appropriations bill that was passed by Congress and signed into law.
Sen. Shelby said, "Preventing rollover crashes is an important public safety goal. This facility will utilize actual road testing to analyze vehicle rollovers and the many factors that contribute to rollover accidents. Both consumers and manufacturers will benefit from Auburn University's dynamic testing and research. With its history of excellence in engineering, Auburn University will make an ideal home for the laboratory."'
