SHELBY ANNOUNCES SENATE PASSAGE OF MILITARY FUNDING FOR THE ALABAMA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) announces U.S. Senate passage of H.R. 2559, the Military Construction Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2004. Included in the bill is significant military funding for the Alabama Army National Guard.

The bill includes:

  • $1.873 million for a Fire Station at Fort McClellan
  • $3.648 million to make improvements to the Readiness Center in Fort Payne
  • $2.943 million for the Armed Forces Reserve Center, Phase II, in Mobile
  • $3.365 million to make improvements to the Readiness Center in Springville
  • $3.353 million to make improvements to the Readiness Center in Vincent


Sen. Shelby said, “I’m pleased the Senate passed this important legislation. This funding will help the Alabama Army National Guard in revitalizing its infrastructure and will support its training mission. These funds also represent our continuing commitment to our nation's security and to the men and women who serve our country.”

In total, $54.08 million for Alabama Military Construction projects was included in the Military Construction Appropriations Act.
