Shelby: North Korea’s continued cooperation critical for successful disarmament

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) made the following comments today regarding the tentative nuclear disarmament agreement reached with North Korea:

Senator Shelby said, “While this accord is an important step towards a denuclearized North Korea, it is only the first step.  We must remain vigilant to ensure that North Korea follows through on the agreement to abandon their nuclear weapons program and allow IAEA inspections.  North Korea’s actions over the last decade underscore the fact that those who are determined will find a way to threaten the world, regardless of the agreements in which they participate.  Their continued cooperation is critical for successful disarmament of the Korean Peninsula.”
