Shelby Announces $23,105 for City of Anniston

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the Department of Justice will award $23,105 to the City of Anniston, Alabama.  This grant is awarded through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which provides funding for law enforcement agencies to implement programs that prevent and control crime based on their own identified needs.  Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.

“Each day our state and local law enforcement officers put themselves in harm’s way to protect our streets and neighborhoods,” said Shelby. “We must ensure that law enforcement officers have the equipment necessary to protect themselves and their communities.  This funding will allow the City of Anniston to purchase much needed law enforcement equipment.”
