SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $327,000 FOR UAB CENTER FOR COMPOSITE MANUFACTURING

WASHINGTON, D. C. — U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation will soon be releasing $327,607 to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Center for Composite Manufacturing. These funds will be used to develop lighter weight, lower cost, higher performing materials for buses and other mass transit applications.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased that over $327,000 will be coming to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Center for Composite Manufacturing. These funds will enable the center to accelerate applications of new technologies which will provide substantial improvements to performance, durability, safety and manufacturing of various forms of mass transit.”

Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing these funds in the federal appropriations process.
