SHELBY ANNOUNCES $37,000 FOR THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice will be releasing $37,000 for the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

These funds will be used to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. The program will focus on preventing substance abuse and violent crimes by juveniles and improvement of juvenile justice system operations, policies, and procedures including establishing a system of graduated sanctions, treatment programs, and aftercare.

Sen. Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce $37,000 to assist the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. These funds will provide incentives for communities to create a comprehensive plan to prevent juvenile delinquency, while educating youth on the dangers of substance abuse and violent crimes.”
