Shelby Announces Nearly $2 Million for Tuscaloosa

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency will award $1,931,204 to the City of Tuscaloosa for hazard mitigation in the area.

“Flooding can cause severe and costly damage to our communities,” said Shelby.  “It is critical that we protect our most vulnerable areas before the next storm hits.  This funding will allow the City of Tuscaloosa to purchase and demolish flood prone properties, and turn them into open spaces, parks, or recreational areas.”
