U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala), Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury, and General Government, announced today that the Department of Transportation will be releasing $1,009,708 for the purchase of buses and vans for the Alabama Area Agencies on Aging and the Jasper Bus Replacement project. Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing these funds in the fiscal year 2004 appropriations process.
Sen. Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce these funds to provide increased access to transportation for our states’ senior citizens. It is essential we continue to invest in these important programs which improve the quality of life for these members of our communities.”
