SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $186,000 FOR COPS PROGRAM IN DECATUR

WASHINGTON, D. C.--- U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) announced today that the Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) will be awarding the City of Decatur $186,422 for the COPS Secure Our Schools (SOS) Initiative.

The SOS Initiative helps schools establish and enhance school safety efforts. SOS gives schools the opportunity to address a variety of existing and emerging problems related to school security ranging from purchasing new equipment to development community policing programs.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce over $186,000 for the City of Decatur for the COPS Secure Our Schools Initiative. This initiative will be tailored specifically to address the safety needs and concerns of Decatur’s schools. By implementing this program, we are making a commitment to the safety and well-being of our children.
