SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $1.8 MILLION FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN PREVENTION PROGRAM

WASHINGTON, D. C.--- U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) announced today that $1,895,000 will be released from the U.S. Department of Justice to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs for the STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program.

The STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program encourages the development and implementation of effective, victim-centered law enforcement, prosecution, and court strategies to address violent crimes against women. This program envisions a partnership among law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and victim services organizations to enhance victim safety and hold offenders accountable for their crimes again women.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce over $1.8 million for these important violence against women prevention programs in Alabama. These funds will help enhance services for abuse victims and ensure those who commit these crimes are held accountable.”
