U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL), today commented on the departures of Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and Economic Adviser Larry Lindsey from the Bush Administration:
"I am not surprised to learn that Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and Economic Adviser Larry Lindsey have chosen to pursue opportunities outside the Administration. The sacrifices required by public service are many. Both men have had successful careers prior to their public service, and I wish them continued success in the private sector."
"I am confident that the Administration will put together a top quality economic team as we continue our aggressive efforts to grow and bolster the economy."
