Shelby Announces Over $5 Million for Alabama’s First Responders

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency will release $5,187,225 to local fire departments and emergency medical services organizations in the state of Alabama.

“Firefighters are our nation’s true first responders and we have a responsibility to ensure that they are adequately equipped to respond to any emergency,” said Shelby. “Our fire departments will use this important grant to fund operations and safety programs and purchase much needed vehicles.  This grant is evidence of our nation’s continued commitment to our first responders.”
