Shelby Announces Over $4.8 Million for Intermodal Facility

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration has awarded $4,833,264 to the City of Birmingham for Phase II of its intermodal center. Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.

“It is critical that large cities, such as Birmingham, have intermodal facilities that meet the needs of those traveling to, from and through the area,” said Shelby. “Once completed, the intermodal facility in Birmingham will accommodate many modes of transportation including intercity bus, rail, taxis and car pool services.  This center will go a long way toward improving the Birmingham public transportation systems.”
