Shelby Meets with Export-Import Bank Nominee

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today released the following statement regarding his meeting with Scott Garrett, President Trump’s nominee to head the Export-Import Bank:

“Following my meeting with Scott Garrett, I continue to believe that President Trump has made the right decision in nominating him for this position. Not only does he hold a deep understanding of the issues at hand, but he is also motivated to make critically-needed reforms to the Bank. I look forward to supporting Congressman Garrett’s nomination and working with him to restore the Export-Import Bank to its original purpose.”

In June, President Trump formally nominated Scott Garrett to be President of the Export-Import Bank. Garrett formerly served as New Jersey’s Congressman for the Fifth District from 2003 – 2017.  During his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he chaired the Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities, and Investment.
