SHELBY ANNOUNCES $45,000 FOR THE BUTTSTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the Buttston Volunteer Fire Department will receive $45,000 in federal funds to assist with the purchase of firefighting vehicles. These funds are available for a variety of vehicles including trucks, ambulances, aerials and fireboats.

These funds have been awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness, as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $750 million in direct federal assistance to firefighters nationwide this year.

“This is great news for the Buttston Volunteer Fire Department. This grant will provide critical support for our firefighters and local law enforcement, and I am pleased that the Department of Homeland Security is following through on its commitment to our nation’s first responders,” Sen. Shelby said.
