SHELBY ANNOUNCES MILITARY FUNDING FOR MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) announces the Senate Appropriations Committee's passage of the Military Construction Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2002. Included in the bill at the request of Senator Shelby is significant military funding for Alabama and for Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

The bill includes $9 million for the construction of a Squadron Officer School Academic Facility on Maxwell Air Force Base, and $13.6 million for the construction of a dormitory for the school.

Also included is $11.8 million for construction of an Officer Training School Dormitory on Maxwell Air Force Base.

Senator Shelby also secured $7.3 million for the Alabama Air Force Reserve for construction of a Fuel Cell Maintenance Hangar on Maxwell Air Force Base.

The bill also includes $9.9 million for the Alabama Air Force Reserve's construction of an Aircraft Maintenance Hangar on Maxwell Air Force Base.

"I am pleased to announce these funds for Maxwell Air Force Base," said Shelby. "These funds represent our continuing commitment to our nation's security and to the men and women who serve our country."

The Military Construction Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2002 includes a total of $105.581 million for Alabama military construction projects.
