U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) is awarding a grant of $170,000 to the Town of Faunsdale for the upgrading of their substandard water system.

These funds will allow the Town of Faunsdale to upgrade the distribution system with 9,000 linear feet of 6-inch PVC pipe, and it will allow for the installation of appropriate gate valves and fire hydrants in the corporate limits. Proper valving of the lines permits maintenance without interrupting a large number of customers. In addition, fire protection will be available for the 147 water system customers and below standard pressure drops will be eliminated. As a result of this project, capacity will increase and water quality will improve.

Sen. Shelby said “I am pleased to make this announcement for the Town of Faunsdale. It is important that we take the necessary steps to stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life for the citizens of Faunsdale.”

The DRA serves a 240-county/parish area in an eight state region and is designed to remedy severe and chronic economic distress by stimulating economic development and fostering partnerships that will have a positive impact on the region’s economy.
