U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that Department of Transportation has awarded $831,868 to the Talladega Municipal Airport for updates to its airport master plan, the installation of perimeter fencing and the removal of obstructions in the runway safety area.
“Local airports serve as an important development tool for our state’s smaller communities and we must continue to expand and upgrade them to serve the growing demand,” said Shelby. “The Talladega Municipal Airport will use this funding to make much needed updates and changes to meet airport design standards and enhance safety of operations. These improvements to the airport will allow Talladega to meet the needs of the increased population traveling to, from and through the state.”
