SHELBY ANNOUNCES $250,000 FOR HOMELESS VETERANS PROGRAM IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

WASHINGTON, D. C. — U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala) announced today that the U.S. Department of Labor will be releasing $250,000 to the Aletheia House in Birmingham to address the problem of homelessness among Veterans.

These funds will allow the Aletheia House to enroll homeless veterans into a program that will provide emergency shelter, substance abuse counseling, job counseling, employment assistance, transportation, subsistence, and medical referrals. The ultimate goal is to place these veterans into meaningful employment that will end homelessness.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased to announce $250,000 to help our veterans get back on their feet. Our nation’s veterans deserve to be treated with the respect they have earned during their selfless service to our country. I will continue to work to ensure that veterans get the support they deserve.”
