U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency will award $3,214,100 to the Association for Retarded Citizens of Baldwin County for the construction of a hurricane saferoom.
“During times of severe weather, it is critical that everyone have access to safe shelter,” said Shelby. “This important funding will be used to build a hurricane saferoom that will also serve as a special needs facility. The saferoom will ensure that clients and staff located at the Association for Retarded Citizens of Baldwin County will be safe during severe weather.”
