Senate Approves FY 2006 Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill

WASHINGTON, DC --- U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced Senate approval today of $4 million in funding for the International Fertilizer Development Center located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. As a member of the Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding. The Foreign Operations Appropriations bill, which passed the Senate by a vote of 98 to 1, will now go to a conference committee with the House for consideration.

Senator Shelby said, “I am very pleased that the Senate has once again recognized the merits of this funding request and agreed to provide $4 million to further the work of the International Fertilizer Development Center in Muscle Shoals.
