Shelby Applauds Passage of Resolution to Support National Runaway Prevention Month

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), founder and Co-Chairman of the Senate Caucus for Missing, Exploited and Runaway Children and founder of the Financial Coalition to Fight Child Pornography, today praised Senate passage of a resolution to recognize and support November 2008 as National Runaway Prevention Month.

“Every year, millions of youth run away from home,” said Shelby.  “Many of these children and teens have no access to medical treatment, shelter or basic living needs.  I believe preventing youth from running away and assisting those on the streets should be a national priority. We have a responsibility to protect our most vulnerable citizens: children.”
