Shelby Announces $48,518 for Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice released $48,518 to Alabama’s Criminal Justice Information Center to continue upgrades on the state’s criminal justice data system.

The funding will be used at Alabama’s Statistical Analysis Center, which provides annual statistical reports to state and local officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation that improve the state’s ability to address criminal justice problems.

“This type of statistical analysis allows Alabama’s lawmakers to better understand the way changes in policy affect the criminal justice system,” said Shelby.  “As we work to address criminal justice problems in the state, it is important that we always examine the results and consequences of new laws or policies.”
