Shelby Announces $134,152 for City of Albertville

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the Department of Justice will award $134,152 to the City of Albertville.  This grant is awarded through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which provides funding for law enforcement agencies to implement programs that prevent and control crime based on their own identified needs.  Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.

“The Byrne grants are incredibly important to local law enforcement officers that are serving on the front lines of our communities each day,” said Shelby.  “We must ensure that our law enforcement agencies have up-to-date equipment to help them do their jobs effectively.  The City of Albertville will use this funding to mitigate the increasing problems of illegal drugs and street gangs in the area.”
