SHELBY ANNOUNCES $248,525 FOR UA CULVERHOUSE CENTER FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

WASHINGTON, D. C.--- U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health, and Human Services, announced today that $248,525 will soon be released from the U.S. Department of Education for the University of Alabama Culverhouse Center for Information Technology (CCIT). Senator Shelby secured these funds in the Fiscal Year 2004 Consolidated Appropriations Act.

The Culverhouse College of Commerce engages in a wide variety of educational and basic and applied research initiatives. The CCIT supports Culverhouse’s information technology initiatives in applied research for transportation, automotive, and manufacturing industries.

Senator Shelby said, “I am pleased that the Department of Education will soon be releasing these funds for the Culverhouse Center for Information Technology. This Center is a tremendous asset both for Culverhouse College and the State of Alabama.”
