U. S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today subcommittee approval of funding requests for several Alabama projects in the VA/HUD and Independent Agencies Appropriations bill.
Sen. Shelby said, "I am very pleased that my colleagues recognized the merits of my funding requests."
The following project requests, were funded by the subcommittee:
Lawson State Community College for an Information Technology Training and Placement Service Center - $200,000
"This program will assist in the training and placement of Lawson State Community College graduates throughout the metropolitan areas of Birmingham and Huntsville," said Shelby.
Alabama Constitution Village - $150,000
"These funds will be used for the construction of a public square in downtown Huntsville. The square will be a major addition to Huntsville's current downtown redevelopment effort and would tie together residential areas, museums, city and government buildings, the Convention Center, businesses and hotels," said Shelby.
Alabama Water Projects
"This funding will go along way in aiding our cities and counties as they deal with their water resource challenges," said Shelby.
Muscle Shoals, Alabama wastewater project - $300,000
