SHELBY ANNOUNCES MILITARY FUNDING FOR GADSDEN

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) announces the Senate Appropriations Committee's passage of the Military Construction Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2003. Included in the bill at the request of Senator Shelby is significant military funding for Alabama and for Gadsden.

Included in the bill is $1.781 million for construction to improve the National Guard Readiness Center in Gadsden. This project will provide adequate space for Alabama national Guard units by renovating the existing facility and adding new construction of 16,618 square feet.

"I am pleased to announce these funds for Fort Rucker," said Shelby. "These funds represent our continuing commitment to our nation's security and to the men and women who serve our country."

The Military Construction Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2003 includes $20.814 million for Alabama Military Construction projects.
