SHELBY ANNOUNCES OVER $25,000 FOR SOUTH SAUTY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL) today announced that the South Sauty Volunteer Fire Department will receive $25,574 in federal funds to assist with operations and firefighter safety. These funds are available for training and fitness, protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.

These funds have been awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness, as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $750 million in direct federal assistance to firefighters nationwide this year.

“These funds will allow the men and women of the South Sauty Volunteer Fire Department to be better prepared to respond to the needs of their community. I will continue working in Congress to ensure that our nation’s first responders have the necessary resources to rapidly respond in the event of an emergency,” Sen. Shelby said.
