Shelby Announces $75,000 for Alabama Farmers Market Authority

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service will award $75,000 to the Alabama Farmers Market Authority.

“Alabama’s agriculture industry is an integral component of our state’s overall economy,” said Shelby.  “For this reason, it is important to strengthen the relationship between our farmers and our communities. This funding will help improve direct producer-to-consumer market opportunities.  Farmers markets provide an excellent opportunity for communities to support their local farmers, while gaining access to fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables.”
