Shelby Announces $223,373 for Victims of Domestic Violence

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the Department of Justice will award $223,373 to the YWCA of Central Alabama to provide legal assistance to victims of domestic violence.  This grant is provided through the Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program.  Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.

“It is terrible to be a victim of domestic violence,” said Shelby.  “We must ensure that all victims of domestic violence have access to services that will help them find relief in legal matters.  The YWCA of Central Alabama, in coordination with the Cumberland School of Law, will use this funding to continue to provide comprehensive legal services to these victims.”
