U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency will award $1,215,493 to the City of Satsuma for the construction of a community saferoom.
“During times of severe weather, it is critical that everyone have access to safe shelter,” said Shelby. “This important funding will be used to build a community saferoom that will ensure that the citizens of Satsuma, as well as first responders and special needs residents who are unable to evacuate, have shelter during disasters.”
