U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration will release $284,000 to the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission for the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
“It is critical that Alabama’s government and businesses work together to strengthen the economies of our local communities,” said Shelby. “These funds will help facilitate economic development throughout the region served by the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission.”
The Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission is comprised of Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox counties
